Constantine Arts Society

Constantine Arts Society was formed in 1974. Some of the villagers who formed the inaugural group still form the nucleus of the thriving present day society which currently numbers some 55 members.

An annual exhibition is held in the Church hall during the last week of July through to the second week in August each year where members exhibit their current work, which in itself is a great advertisement for it's members and the village. The exhibition results in visitors both near and far coming into the village and in some cases buying what they see.

But the exhibition is only part of the Society's life.

Members meet on Tuesday afternoons between 1.30 pm and 4.00 pm and then on Thursday evenings between 7.00 pm and 9.00 pm in the Church Hall not only to paint but to enjoy the friendship and advice of other members.

At least once a term on Tuesdays we have a visiting artist to give workshops on a particular subject and again once a term on Thursday evenings we have a visiting demonstrator who gives us tips on how to improve our techniques.

The Society consists of all standards of artists, some very experienced and some very new to painting. We actively encouraged new members and there is always someone available to give help and encouragement to all newcomers.

So if you are over the age of 16 and fancy trying your hand at a new pastime or if you are an experienced artist why not call in to the Church hall any Tuesday afternoon or Thursday evening and meet and talk to the members who will be more than willing to tell you more or help get you started.
