LIGHTING

The lighting rig now includes 16 mixed Fresnel and Profile lanterns mountable on bars A-B and C-D. These are all controlled from a standard control desk at the rear of the auditorium, along with dimmable houselights and a series of fixed floodlights controlled separately. There are also two portable tripod lighting rigs with their own dimmers and faders to allow lights to be mounted in alternative sites (and for use downstairs if needed).

SOUND

There are two active Roland PA speakers in fixed locations in the staging, which run from a Peavey Escort 5 channel portable mixer PA which can be sited anywhere to suit. This system also has its own portable tripod mounted speakers and is thus a fully portable system. There is a single general purpose wired microphone and two sets of radio mics (VHF) with optional headsets, all useable via the Peavey system.

PROJECTION/SCREENING

We have a powerful Optoma projector and large (12’x 9’) portable screen. This allows the screening of movies from DVD and also provides facilities for mixed media productions.

REHEARSAL SPACE

We already welcome several of Cornwall’s best known theatre and dance companies who rehearse here and use the Tolmen Centre as a space to launch new shows. Subject to availability we are happy to allow the venue to be used by all groups – amateur and professional – and our charges are kept modest to encourage this. ACCESS

The theatre space is on the first floor and is accessed up staircases on either side of the building. There is disabled access in the form of a stairlift. Changing, toilet and shower facilities are on the ground floor.
