The village school for Gweek and Trewennack,
Boskenwyn also serves other local communities and draws some children
from Helston to its pretty rural situation. The family feeling of the
school is complemented by a full range of excellent facilities for children
from 4 to 11, with early years and junior classrooms, library, computer
and music areas, whilst outside there is a sports field and wild area,
as well as a garden and well equipped playground.
There are close links with playgroups in Gweek and Helston, and children
can attend regular sessions at school with their parents from age 3
on the Learning Together Programme. From age 4, the Under-5's programme
offers part-time school, as a structured introduction to full time school
in the term in which children become five. The school is able, due to
its two small classes staffed by four dedicated teachers, to focus on
the needs of individual children throughout their primary school-days.
Academic results are excellent and in the sporting arena there are football
and netball teams. Successful cross-country running, swimming and gymnastics
at Swallows gym in Helston. All this work is under-pinned by a positive
and energetic PTA, which provides support both financial and emotional!

Constantine Primary School is set on the edge of the lovely village of Constantine
and has a friendly, family atmosphere. It has approximately 120 pupils on roll
whose ages range from 4-11 years. There are strong links with the pre-school
group which is located on site in a new purpose-built eco-friendly building.
The original school building was constructed in 1966. But in 2005 the school
was completely tranformed by the addition of new classrooms, library and computer suite.
All the existing classrooms have been brought up to modern standards and the old building
has been completely refurbished. The school has its own hall, equipped with P.E. apparatus;
a new adventure play area; sports field and garden.
There is an excellent canteen, fully staffed and equipped to prepare healthy meals on the premises.
Classroom accommodation provides ample room for pupils, with splendid views over the
Lizard peninsula towards Goonhilly Downs.
Constantine School covers the full national curriculum and offers all
that you would expect from a modern primary school. However we are also
proud of our "extras". Music is a great strength with singing, private
instrument tuition, orchestra and participation in festivals. Our after
school clubs are many and varied, changing throughout the year. The
school has a strong PTA who organise social and fund raising events
for the benefit of the children. The Governing Body take a lively interest
in all aspects of school life.
From Constantine School pupils transfer to either Falmouth Community
School. Helston School, Penryn College or Mullion School.
If you would like more information, or to visit the school, please contact
the Headteacher or Secretary at the school, or any of the people listed
above.
