We enrol children from the age of 3 into our Early Years Unit and they progress to becoming full-time pupils at the start of the Reception year. All of our amazing staff, governors and parents/carers work closely together to provide a safe and happy environment for all where children thrive and strive to be the best they can be. Our main aim is to educate the whole child, develop lively enquiring minds, and develop a love for learning for life.

Mawnan C of E V A Primary School has been providing education for the children of the Mawnan Smith area since 1834. The school aims to provide a broad and balanced curriculum founded on Christian values. The education offered at this school will be concerned not only with the teaching of basic academic, social and physical skills but also with furnishing our children with an inquiring, creative and sensitive approach to life. The children will also have the opportunity to develop spiritually and emotionally within the ethos of a church school. Children are individuals with differing needs, interests, attitudes and talents. The School will endeavour to awaken the children’s curiosity about the wider world and develop their respect for diversity. They will be encouraged to develop their potential so that they may be able to contribute positively to society for the mutual benefit of all, as well as seeking personal fulfilment and reward. The staff and governors will continue to work together to provide a sound education in a caring atmosphere (where the wellbeing of the child is paramount) and in doing this consider partnership with parents to be essential. The school has a close relationship with the local Church and Diocese and will continue to be involved in the life of the community.

At Falmouth School we believe in high expectations and high standards. We set challenging targets for students and we encourage and support them to achieve their targets. Over the past 3 years we have consistently achieved results that place us as one of the top schools in Cornwall, please see the results section of the website for more details. We believe in a culture of excellence whereby we expect the best of everyone, whether students or staff. Considerable professional development time is spent ensuring that our staff employ the most effective methods, drawn from research, to encourage the best learning outcomes possible from our students. We expect our students to be ‘Ready to Learn’, by attending school, being equipped and focussed on learning and taking responsibility for their own development. We have a behaviour support structure that allows teachers to deal quickly and efficiently with any low level disruption with minimum interruption to the learning process. We expect students to behave respectfully so that everyone can achieve their potential and misbehaviour has clear sanctions. Our uniform policy encourages students to dress smartly and we enforce our uniform rules to ensure this. We expect students to attend school every day, absence affects progress and so must be avoided whenever possible.

We’re a lively thriving college, and we pride ourselves on offering the very best for our students. Penryn College caters for boys and girls aged between 11 and 16 years who mainly live in Penryn Town and the surrounding villages of Constantine, Flushing, Mabe, Mawnan Smith, Mylor, Perranwell and Ponsanooth. Students also join us from outlying villages and Falmouth. The PAN for each year group is 210, but the occupational capacity is slightly different by year groups. Currently we are oversubscribed in all year groups.
Penryn College opened originally in Falmouth in 1957 and was moved to its present site in 1961. Since that time there has been a programme of continuous improvement and updating of buildings and classrooms. Our biggest development though was the opening in 2008 of our £24 million pound new College building. We have a great range of resources that help us meet the needs of students and the community. For example, through a partnership with the university , we were able to build a 6 badminton court size sports hall and have the latest generation astro turf pitch.

As you approach Constantine, the high tower of the Church stands prominently upon an ancient mound that is probably the remains of an original Celtic monastery. Built between 1420-1480, it is dedicated to St. Constantine who, according to legend, was a chieftain or prince around the 5th century A.D. From the main porch the view southwards is superb, with a deep valley ahead of you and the Goonhilly Downs beyond. It is a beautiful Church with family and healing services. Be still and pray. Join with others in worship and fellowship. Praise the Lord! Services: Every Sunday – 8.00am & 10.30am; Every Thursday -10.00am Holy Communion, followed by Ladies Fellowship.
