Tolmen Movies present Of Gods and Men

This is billed as a beautiful and a remarkable film – the Grand Jury prize winner of last year ºs Cannes Festival. In an austere monastery in the Atlas mountains of northern Algeria, a quiet group of French Cistercian monks go about their business, mixing easily with the Arab population. But as they become trapped between a increasingly repressive Algerian government and an Islamic fundamentalist insurgence, they are forced to make a choice between staying and leaving.

Philip French of the Observer described this as a ‚ profound, immaculately acted movie. Its words are carefully considered, its images eloquent. The subject matter is urgently topical, the themes raised eternal and universal.

Give it a go.
