Constantine Pre-School
Constantine Pre-School is situated within the grounds of Constantine Primary School, in the village of Constantine, near Falmouth in Cornwall.
The purpose built eco building was completed and opened in 2004 and the setting is registered with the early years compulsory and voluntary childcare registers to provide care for a maximum of 26 children between the ages of 2 and 4.
The Pre-school is a member of the Pre-School learning Alliance and is subject to regular OFSTED inspections. In 2015 we were awarded a “good” status.

It is with great excitement and pride that we start the Pre-School entry this time around with our OUT-STANDING OfSTED news! Constantine Pre-School was awarded this, the highest possible grading, in March and of course the team have been walking on cloud 9 ever since! It was truly rewarding for staff, parents, carers and the commu- nity to officially announce what we all see: Constantine Pre-School is outstanding!
It would be very easy to quote the whole report, but please do have a read if you’ve not had a chance already; it is a thoroughly glowing review and shows yet again how hard the team work, and how wonderful the children are! “Staff plan an extremely enabling environment, which promotes high curiosity and children's deep engagement.” What more could you want?
Constantine Pre-School is a committee run charity; therefore we can only remain open if we have a fully functioning committee in place every year. The committee is made up of a majority of parents from the pre-school and without this group of parents giving their time attending their monthly meeting and organising fundraisers, we would not be able to open.
Constantine Pre-School provides children aged 2-4 years old with an exciting and stimulating learning environment 5 days a week during term time. We provide a breakfast club and after school care.
We have recently started a Forest School that we run twice weekly in the local woods. The Forest School ethos encourages the development of children’s emotional and physical development through outdoor play, activities and exploration in a forest environment. The philosophy of Forest School is to inspire and encourage individuals to participate in achievable and positive experiences in a natural environment. Our planned activities will foster:
- Independence
- Confidence and self-esteem
- Communication skills and team-work
- Physical competence
